The Zurich University of the Arts is the junction where the biographies of the four members of Driftwood intersect: Originally founded as a duo by Joa Frey and bassist Jeanaine Oesch, the constellation expanded between 2019 and 2022 to include Samir Böhringer on drums and finally Marina Iten on drums Alto saxophone. The band's development traces a steady path from private to public. From intimate recordings in the living room to the “Barn Session”, a live performance in 2020. This was followed by numerous concerts and festival appearances in German-speaking Switzerland and the release of the debut album “LITHA” in autumn 2023 on the Freiburg label Double Moon Records as part of the Jazz thing Next Generation Series.
